One of my favorite professors, he was already an administrator at Southwestern when I got there, but I was fortunate enough to catch two of his courses when he was teaching for someone who had gone on sabbatical. His exams were tough, but he was a remarkably engaging teacher, interactive in a setting where lecture was the preferred, common methodology and personally interested in his students. He'd invite students to lunch in groups of three or four to get to know them and the couple of times I went were probably the only meals I ever ate in the Southwestern cafeteria.
