Recently Rob Ellers (?) wrote a big piece about Billy Graham. He gave Billy the benefit of the doubt re his son Franklin.

But the definitive Bonhoeffer biographer in a conversation with Al Mohler for his blog came to a different nuance on Graham. Mohler volunteered to Charles Marsh, who has considerable differences with the super Trumper Eric Metaxas on many issues including Trump; Mohler said Most folks have no idea what a key behind the scenes strategist Billy Graham was in the fundamentalist takeover of the SBC!!!

Fox doesn’t know squat about this, Sandy is pretty much on target. I’d add that the early announcement is preemptive. Hard right critics are boxed in.

I think two good years of Al Mohler as SBC president is just what the SBC needs to get through the pastor sex abuse scandal and get the taste of Paige Patterson out of their mouths.

Is Mohler still one of the leaders of the Calvinist faction? Is that still a thing? Does it effect his bid for SBC president?
