James Wood was a very special individual. It was my privilege to serve as interim pastor of the church of which he was a member and to visit in his home on a number of occasions. He was a gracious gentleman who loved God, Baptist distinctives, and was deeply involved in applications of the First Amendment to religious issues. I never left without feeling that I had profited by sitting with one of the greats of Baptist life.
