Interesting happenings down in Texas with two of its Baptist universities. First, the BGCT votes down a recommendation that would have allowed HBU to have up to a fourth of its trustees come from non-Baptist churches. Then, without consulting the convention, just weeks later, Baylor's regents vote to open their board to non-Baptists in the same percentage. It seems almost defiant that the BGCT related university that receives the lion's share of its college financial support would take this action unilaterally, after the convention had voted not to allow it at HBU.
But apparently HBU is going to ignore the convention vote, and make the move anyway, or at least, give it renewed consideration. Why not, especially since they will let Baylor get away with it?
You'd see BGCT cooperative program receipts increase tomorrow if they'd just drop Baylor from the financial support and divide it up among the schools that are still seeking to serve the convention constituency.
