FBI warns 'armed protests' being planned at all 50 state capitols and in Washington DC

The FBI has received information indicating "armed protests" are being planned at all 50 state capitols and the US Capitol in Washington, DC in the days leading up to President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration on January 20, according to an internal bulletin obtained by CNN.

We need the National Guard and Military to prepare now and deploy. I wish I were wrong.

"Additional reports indicate threats against VP-Elect Harris and Speaker Pelosi," it adds.

Secret Service needed as well.

I'd have a perimeter set up around Biden and Pence as well.

I do worry about possible violence either on Inauguration Day or sometime during the days before or after. It appears that they are way better prepared than last time. I hope that causes the far right crazies to think better of doing anything.

A couple of denominations (UCC and PCUSA) have received information that progressive congregations might be protested at or attacked sometime this week. My congregation is meeting online only right now. So, they'd be protesting an empty building. The UMC didn't put out similar warnings.

In my small community I don't know that I actually expect anything unless your church is close to a state capitol building. (We are about 20 miles away from the Iowa state capitol.) We are one of the most progressive congregations in Indianola. But so far the most we've been targeted is the theft of a rainbow flag last summer.

But I would encourage everyone to keep their eyes open to nut jobs who may be more active than normal in the coming days.

I know I refrained from putting up Biden/Harris signs (or Doug Jones signs) due to fear of violence. In my neighborhood Trump/Pence signs (as well as Brooks and Tuperville signs) were removed soon after the election but at three locations the Trump/Pence signs reappeared at those three locations on 1/7 or 1/8 and are still up. At first blush this means they have renewed hope for Trump (as President or GOP Kingpin)

My church has not received any adverse vandalism lately. Two members of my church are exploring running for Brooks's position if he gets removed as he should be for “incitement”.

Because of living in a parsonage right across the street from the church, I don't ever put political signs in my yard. My community is pretty divided. We have everything from far left progressives to far right Trumpers. I'd not be surprised if we don't even have a few QAnon types here.

There were rumors that there was going to be an armed protest march at the Iowa State Capitol today, but I've not seen any news reporting that it actually happened.

How it plays in Bammer

Postby Stephen Fox » Thu Jan 21, 2021 12:08 pm

I just posted this at yellowhammer News in Bama, the catch all site for Trump base and Babdist fundamentalism

And I have challenged SBC State papers to take a poll what papers have been clear and which still leave a fog about the legailty of the ballots of this last election. This morning religious right talk radio still questioning the legality of Biden Ballots, day after the fireworks last night.

I may delete the following comment soon from Yhammer cause I am satisfied the Proud and Boogie Patriot prayer boys will assassinate somebody sooner or later and if a bullet is to take me out, would rather have it from a better grade of the offscouring.

How are all Will Ainsworth's guns and the dark money politics of the NRA and the arming of Q anon, Boogie and Proud Boys and the Prayer Patriots--see Evan Osnos piece in New Yorker--when is Miss Jesus Cavanaugh and Ainsworth's Momma gonna say anything about that to unify America. When is Greg Sankey and the SEC gonna say enough is enough about arming good ole boys to the teeth with lies and distortions about the Second Amendment with the complicity of Baptist Church of the Highlands, The Bama SBC and Rick n Bubba. Who wants to see armed insurrectionists outside the Iron Bowl, Even Ole Miss Versus Bama at Bryant Denny Stadium the way By God Tommy Tuberville stoked in his campaign kick off. Looks to me like Miss Cavanaugh emphasis about a United America, her telescope on top of her gun barrell, her crosshairs are a little out of kilter for a Christian Alabama.

I'm not ready to say extremist right wing violence is over. But I’m glad there was no further violence aimed at overthrowing the election.

Definitive piece to date was written early Nov in New Yorker from the Portland experience. Read that and discern a little bettter.

Also exhaustive piece in the New Yorker within the last few days on the Ga 14 Qanon MT Greene District. You can click on live link to that piece in today's Michele Goldberg's FEB 2 column NY Times.

And Tomorrow, Weds Feb 3 Ga NPR GPB News facebook or url. Bill Nigut and political rewind live for the hour on MT Greene. I hit their facebook strong this morning and the group Rewinders Unwind with some insight and truth telling. Had good chat with the Rome News Tribune two hours ago and US Rep Mace office of SC and Timmons.
