Ranked-choice voting aka Instant-runoff voting

I don't think we've discussed this. It seems to me it might have value in counteracting the rampant polarization we all experience of late. Thoughts?

Some states and many municipalities use some form of ranked voting. I don’t know all about it but it’s interesting. I’m neither uneducated nor uninformed but this is complicated. I’d guess that most voters would be clueless and voter guides would just explain how you should vote if you like candidate A or dislike candidate B.

Here in ga we have a two person runoff if no candidate gets 50% +1 vote.

Our local school district does that for board elections. You get a list of candidates to fill three seats per year, because they have staggered a nine member board into three year terms. All the candidates for that year are listed on the ballot and you vote for three.

It's an interesting idea. Runoff elections sometimes don't get the same kind of turnout.
