Oh, the extremist right is still couching this in their "culture war" language. Trump was a typical wealthy criminal long before he decided to run for office, the kind who has enough money to surround himself with lawyers and buy his way out of trouble. Regardless of how all of this turns out as far as impeachment goes, the constitutional ability of Congress to hold the presidency accountable has been smashed. Every President after this one will be able to live above the law and completely ignore the constitution as long as his or her party holds enough senate seats to keep the proceedings from moving forward. The odds of either party, or of some kind of coalition, coming along in the future that will hold two thirds of the senate seats is next to nothing. As long as senators are partisan lackeys bought by lobbyists and more loyal to party than to country, we are done with that part of our checks and balances. The voters will have to shove him out. They will.
