Nashville SBC is History now

Here is what I just submitted to my hometown paper in SC while waiting to see what the SBC Plodder had to say. Davidson Chair, hard to beat there, Willie Tee (smile)

Cody:

My mother walked out on the Baptist convention sermons of Jerry Vines and Charles Stanley when they met in Atlanta in 1986. When my momma walks out on preaching, somebody is lying. Even then preachers closely associated with the vestiges of the John Birch Society and white citizens council were in ascendance in the SBC as they within a year were to force the resignation of my Dad's great friend and seminary classmate Randall Lolley, then president of seminary in NC.
Last week 15,000 Baptist fundamentalists met in Nashville to discuss Critical Racism , the Role of Women in the church, hard line abortion resolution. By 600 votes or four percent they averted disaster for the time being by election a relatively little known pastor from Saraland Alabama over a man from Waycross Ga who flirts with the margins of Qanon people and was interviewed not only on Fox and Friends, but by a suspect group Sovereign Nations. He is also active in the FCA and Bobby Bowden was on site in Nashville to affirm former UGA coach Mark Richt and his salvation testimony.
There were upwards of 20 stories written about the SBC in national periodicals from The New Yorker to NY Times, Wash post and MSNBC not to mention religion dispatches, Baptist News Global and Good Faith Media. I posted a blog Thursday that I emailed to a former chair of the Davidson History Department and he got right back disseminating widely saying "great stuff" You can read my great stuff (lol) at foxofbama.blogspot.com both parts, part one and Two.
Ralph Norman, bottom line wants no part of Emory and Duke Theologian Anthea Butler. She has his number in a piece at MSNBC easy google. Leadership in Gaffney from Limestone Trustees to the school board to deacons and elders should read what she says, and of course my blog.

Sincerely,

Stephen M. Fox

SBC Voices, Nathan Finn vs nybookd dot com

Postby Stephen Fox » Mon Jun 28, 2021 11:01 am

Yesterday I read Nathan Finn of NGU take on SBC. It Sucked, one of the biggest whitewashing jobs since the mid 90s by anything resembling an academic. One can see why Eric Metaxas the Super Trumper of Truth for a New Generation conferences at FBC Sburg co sponsored by NGU feels so at ease with these Vines/Rogers scholars of the Takeover

Compare Finn to a leading story up today at nybooks.com featuring the statue of Billy Graham outside the Babdist building in Nashville. Al Moher identified Graham as a traitor to the Babdist cause in his conversation with Charles Marsh about five years ago. I guess that makes his statue appropriate and the connection to NGU and FBC Sburg.

Some may want to see the July 4 comment I made about FBC Sburg and Trey Gowdy Training union show on Fox News today at Sburg Herald Journal.

Send Devine from Samford to Nathan Finn NGU

Postby Stephen Fox » Sat Jul 03, 2021 9:37 am

https://thefederalist.com/2021/07/01/so ... s-are-not/

He is a disaster for Samford which got notice in the Corts era in the WSJ as a "schizophrenic" institution

Devine and his Federalist notions would be more at home with Nathan Finn and SBC Voices and Tony Beam at NGU. FBC Sburg Seth Buckley (music man formerly with the Furman singers) son just left for Bama as a Graduate student to run Track and got a Trey Gowdy royalty like send off from the local paper the Herald Journal.
