Sounds like a wonderful experience.
[1] Did they use a hymnal (if so, which one?) and/or projected lyrics, or did the congregation know all the words, or was it call & response, or what? If you remember any first lines, what were they? (Same questions pertain also to the later worship service and its praise band.
[2] Did you find out what brand of Baptist they were? If they were having a young lady ordained to the gospel ministry I think that bodes well.
Hi! If you're the pastor of the church Ed and Trudy Pettibone visited yesterday, then I want to friend you and let you know about the very positive review he gave you on the forum at baptistlife DOT com! I've never been to Mississippi, but if I ever get there on a Sunday, I'm lookin' you up!
Haruo wrote:Everything I see suggests you mean "New Friendship Baptist Church" in Walnut Grove, MS (about 19 miles from Forest). Am I right? That's the church I gather this Angelo Riley pastors.

Ed: Haruo, something is strange. The location of the church as you give it is even more precise than I can verify as being where we where. And the pastor of the New Friendship Baptist Church where we attended on Sunday June 3rd is named Calvin Smith according to the bulletin that I have in hand. And he appears to older than the fellow in the picture you posted. By the way, The young lady who is about to be ordained is named Lottie Towner.
Haruo wrote:Boy, they sure don't leave much of an electronic trail! I can find reference to Calvin Smith as pastor of New Friendship Baptist Church (or Missionary Baptist Church) in Forest from 2012 and 2015. Nothing more recent, and no address or phone number.
