The tendency is to fasten one’s mind on the statistics, notwithstanding the impossibility under proven economics-history of managing the enormous debt involved in the programs of Obama and the Congressional majority, and the propaganda delivered to a public far too gullible account of ignorance of both history and current affairs. This administration/congress, at least at the top concerning its leaders, is rabidly anti-American with respect to the system that has made the country what it is – capitalism built on entrepreneurship and risk-taking fueled by innovation structured by genius-planners and workers who go about their business with dignity and fervor. The plan of the head honchos, who are well-off with no financial worries and in a position to raid the till if necessary, is to lead the Congress down the primrose path. It is no accident that not one republican in either house voted for the Obama budget. Even Specter the defector voted against it. The bank-bailout monstrosity of last October has been a fiasco, with multitudes of people still losing to foreclosure and lending agencies taking the money and adding it to their bottom lines but not to their lending activities. No House republican voted for the $787 billion stimulus plan earlier this year, and only three republicans in the Senate.
Obama has decreed bankruptcy for Chrysler, which will be owned by the government and the UAW. Obama is also the actual CEO of General Motors, which will also go bankrupt or restructure according to his rules. The effort in this case is at least partly, if not mainly, to make Chrysler and GM, as socialist enterprises, impossible for Ford and other auto companies to compete with successfully, the upshot being that the government will own the entire auto industry. At present, it owns the major banking institutions. Its combination of bailouts, stimulus, and $3.4 billion budget, never mind the rhetoric, means enormous tax increases sooner rather than later, since no meaningful spending cuts are part of the plan. The inevitable tax increases will put the country in the Olde Europe mode, as programs such as government-controlled health services induce systems of waiting lines and the disappearance of health professionals who will not trade their admittedly inordinately high incomes for government-controlled salary mandates.
In short, the government will own the people, rather than the other way around, as has been the case until now. The plan is to take control through bankrupting the nation instead of using a “palace coup,” the usual way in most third-world countries, which will be joined by this country as mediocrity takes hold in every sector of existence. This is scary but not nearly as scary, concerning actual existence, as Obama’s plans for national insecurity.
