Ronald Reagan

From Gerry Milligan...30 years ago on the last night of his presidency, President Reagan admonished the citizens of the United States to stay true to remaining a country which welcomed immigrants. In these 30 years what has happened to the United States? The fear-mongering from the white house and the single issue voters believing his lies? Come quick, Lord Jesus.

It is perhaps best explained by a book, "The Death of White Christian America" which examines the demographics of change in our country. Looming just ahead is the end of having a white majority in America. The fear of that happening is part of the drive to keep immigrants out. The problem is that the change can only be postponed a few years, regardless of the direction in which the immigration trends move, but it plays into the racial fears of becoming just one of many minorities.
