IPhone owners can sue Apple for monopolizing App Store

One of the things that protects iPhone users from malware is the rules to get your product on the App Store. If the court forces apple to allow other app stores or the side-loading of apps it will be the consumer that suffers from the garbage that will be sold on those 3rd party sites. That is why Android has a much larger problem with malware than Apple does.

Interesting, if bit obscure. SCOTUS merely granted standing to the plaintiffs. Didn't decide anything about the merits.

Right, William. The ruling is very narrow and specific. App store really has no meaning to me -- use a phone for a phone (though I finally learned to take a few pictures with it) -- and I have no idea how this could affect consumers. But there does seem to be concern of many about the big tech giants monopolizing things.
