Now that Southern Baptists have come to the realization that the crisis among their pastors and vocational ministers places them in the same category as Catholics and priests when it comes to sexual abuse of congregation members, the issue becomes how to handle reporting this between churches, and church-related entities. It seems like communication between one church and another, or the IMB and a couple of churches was simply non-existent when an abuser moved from employment with the IMB to two large Arkansas churches, and the state Baptist convention in South Carolina before his victims caught up with him.

Stephen Fox's theory about Pressler's motives for the SBC is that he used the denomination to further the conservative Republican cause, and as a launching pad for his own political career. Pressler always talked about how close he was to the Bush family but it seemed odd that when an ethics post came open that seemed to be a perfect fit for a fundamentalist Baptist crusader who could be excellent window dressing for a Republican President who despised Evangelical conservatives but needed someone to boost his image with them, Pressler was passed over. I have to wonder who he smacked in the face after that rejection.
