You may say Congress was elected by Americans but Congress is not following the wishes of the majority of the people.
Tax “reform”:
52% of Americans are against the GOP Tax Plan / 25% for it.
.
Remember independent analysis shows
This big cuts for the wealthy is due to (1) likely stock market gains after the corporate tax rate cut from a nominal 35% to a nominal 20% and (2) the likely use of phony pass-through incorporation by the high paid to reduce their rate from 39.6/35% to 20% which is enabled by this law. These “likely’s” may not come through especially (1), but the hypocrisy of calling this tax plan a “Middle Class Tax Cut” is apparent. The claim of new jobs coming from corporate tax breaks is not going to happen unless there is more demand for products. A true Middle Class tax cut would immediate help the poor/middle class which improves the demand for products that would lead to higher paid jobs, more demand, more jobs, and a thriving economy. As is the middle and low classes are still suffering. Approximately half of America is not making a livable wage (and thus are living off relatives or what is left over of our country’s/state’s “safety net”)
Gun Control:
91% for a ban on the sale of guns to people convicted of a violent crime / 7% against
74% for a ban on gun modifications that can make a gun work more like a fully automatic weapon / 24% against it
62% for stricter regulation of ammunition sales / 34% against it
lotsa of good poll questions beyond gun control here.
I have several other examples of Congress not following the will of the people, but I have other things to do for the rest of the day. I’ll add more later.
Call your congressmen and make them be your representative. Probably too late for House Tax Vote today, but not too late Senate vote. And I just heard the news that a “Gun Control Bill” is now offered - don’t know the details.
