Best takes on Ailes and his legacy last several weeks has been NPR On the Media, Easy google.

Ailes and Lee Atwater were joined at the hip and for Bush 41 speaking against the Birch Society in 66, he will also be judged, Bush 41 by his association and benefit from Ailes and Atwater. For all his gifts and virtue Jon Meacham missed that point.

Ailes was of the era of Fear of Flying and the "zipless F**k", and was groomed by white WWII vets who thought what Trump grabbed was theirs for the taking. Sources tell me as an example there were 9 whorehouses in Rome Ga in the 40s to tempt my Dad and his brothers, the town that made Jerry Vines famous.

But Trump was an enemy of Martin King, Carlyle Marney, James Dunn and the best of the Baptist witness the last half of the 20th Century. He played on the fears of white working class men, their fears and resentments with demagoguery and there is not much I see in him to celebrate.

My hero Marshall Frady himself not immune to the charms of women, said Baptist leadership of the 60's did hold a channel to move white southerners in the right direction, although very slowly. With the fundy takeover of the SBC abetted and celebrated in Pressler and Patterson, Helms and Albert Lee Smith circles--Smith's wife Eunie introduced Kris Kobach to FBC Gardendale's Scott Beason to generate Bama's draconian immigration law and now Kobach is key in Trump's ridiculous voter fraud initiative--Ailes has been a disaster for the higher angels the best vision of America, the one celebrated by Azar Nafisi in This Republic of Imagination, and Barack Hussein Obama in his acceptance of the Profiles in Courage Award at the Kennedy Library two weeks ago.

Maybe Franklin Graham will do his eulogy.

Sinister populism is not conservatism

Ailes is a great analogy for Pressler and Jesse Helms and Albert Lee Smith work in the SBC
