SBC wants to boot Boy Scouts of America

Apparently, one of the resolutions you will be asked to vote upon at this year's SBC ...booting Boy Scout troops out of SBC churches.

Hmm, I thought SBC churches were autonomous.

Churches are autonomous, and any resolution passed at the convention is not binding on the churches. It's too early to speculate on the resolution, since it hasn't been passed in its final form. It may call upon Southern Baptist Churches to either disconnect from the Boy Scouts, or for church-related troops to simply ignore the policy and determine their own membership, which most of them who have boy scout troops do anyway.

I guess it could have been worse. They did not demand all churches sever ties. Just condemned the Boy Scouts for their inclusion of teenaged gays.
