Thanks. Colson was a man who went from being hell-bent to heaven-bent. My dad and I knew him before his conversion, so my dad saw the miraculous changes.
I've had couple email exchanges this morning with the daughter of Nixon's Southern Strategist Harry Dent. Ginny Brant, of Ginnybrant.com has a tribute to her friend Chuck Colson up at her website.
In an email Ginny said this: "Thanks. Colson was a man who went from being hell-bent to heaven-bent. My dad and I knew him before his conversion, so my dad saw the miraculous changes.
While I am no fan of Colson and his shenanigans in the Nixon Administration, and I have major reservations about the Manhattan Declaration and his colleague Tim George recent lecture at Judson College where he was struck dumb and mute on Alabama's Immigration Bill fiasco; I think Ginny's point is strong.
In the conversations to come in the wake of Ross Douthat's book Bad Religion; as well as ongoing conversation with the likes of Steven Miller and his take on Billy Graham; speaking to myself as well as my community of faith on this board, there is some of the baby some of us (at times myself included) are too quick to throw out with the bathwater.
