I saw Higher Ground last week in Greenville, S.C. Check their website for a theatre near you as it is limited release. I think it was in Huntsville, Al last week.
Make a way to go see it.
Here is the ED.com review

But I think Rd.org gets closer to its significance in this review

RD.org says the book is a love letter to libraries and to reading; something that in my experience scares fundamentalists. I think Rachel Held Evans and her explorations in Evolving in MonkeyTown confirms my speculations here, and those of RD.org
Parnell at ed.com seems to me doesn't get the last scene in the movie. The protagonist is still on pilgrimage. For sure it has been a harsh, sometimes weird faith journey, but not that uncommon. Very true to some of what I sensed from the 72 Campus Crusade gathering in Dallas Texas, an event Dan Williams for one emphasizes in his recent Mark Noll acclaimed God's Own Party.
What does Jeffress wife think about this movie; or Al Mohler's wife, the women in Charles Pickering's extended family, Albert Lee Smith's daughter; even Timothy George's wife.
I would love to read their review.
