Heritage is nearing the end of its pastor search process. The search committee will be announcing this Sunday the name of the candidate. The following Sunday, 11/21, the candidate will be with us to get acquainted and preach in view of a call to be our pastor. The committee has done a superb job of maintaining confidentiality so that the whole church gets the same information at the same time. I'll plan to post again Sunday afternoon when I find out who the candidate is.

If I can find the discretionary income, may make the drive over for a Sunday morning service.

All the best in this new chapter.

Lamar: A Stellar Baptist inflected event may be coming to your region next Spring. Expecting Heritage to be present with a delegation if it takes traction.

The candidate is...(Drumroll, please :) ) Michael Tutterow from Wieuca Road BC in Atlan ta. I know him only by reputation, not personally acquainted yet, but all that I know is good, looking forward to meeting and hearing him next Sunday!

Today is the big day at Heritage. Instead of the usual two services at 8:40 and 10:55, we are having breakfast with the candidate Michael Tutterow and his wife Vicki at 8:45, one room adult Sunday School led by MIchael at 9:30, then 10:30 worship service with Michael preaching, followed by business forum to vote on calling him as our pastor.

I sense a lot of excitement in the church. I'm hearing only positive talk. There is a high degree of trust in the pastor search committee. I keep hearing more good things about Michael and look forward to meeting and hearing him. My friend and seminary classmate John Hewett (formerly at First Baptist in Asheville NC) knows Michael and speaks highly of him, as does our former pastor Bob Ballance who is now at First Baptist in Boulder CO. I anticipate things going very well today.

UPDATE: Heritage has unanimously, enthusiastically, and joyfully voted to call Michael Tutterow as pastor! Very impressed with him, warm and genuine, superb preacher.

Michael Tutterow's first Sunday as our pastor was January 9. Today was the formal installation service, wonderful time of celebration, and Michael brought a superb message as he has done consistently every Sunday since he has been with us. We had a single service at 10:30 rather than the normal two services at 8:40 and 10:50, many friends of Michael and Vicki who were at Wieuca during his tenure there came up for the occasion, so the house was packed.

I run the risk here of breaking Br'er Fox's record for number of consecutive replies to his own post, but wanted to let everybody know that we are off to a good start with an excellent pastor who I hope will be with us a long time.
