I have gotten disturbing word Chaplain Carver, who my Grandfather Fox through prayer and witness helped lead to a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ outside Rome Ga in the 60's, is caught up in the lightly shadowed political conference against President Obama using SBC CP funded Richard Land as a spear head.

Kaylor does indeed have a fascination with Richard land; like Rove with 43, and Land with Rove.

I've never seen Brian Kaylor use language that is not civil, call folks names, etc.

His field is communications. It's appropriate to look at the language that Land has used.

Frankly, he's not the first to do so. James Smith of the Florida Baptist Witness has made comments on Twitter when Land uses these marriage/sex metaphors. His talk of having a fling with a talk dark stranger just a couple months back was a little weird. I think more than a few Southern Baptists find Land's metaphors odd.

I was to see that Brian is a finalist for a Religion Newswriters Association award for his reporting at EthicsDaily. Some heavy hitters on that list - a Who's Who of religion journalists.

But I kinda detect a little bit of a reach on Kaylor's part here; overdoes of political correctness; an aesthetic difference moreso than nailing a dark soul.

I've all kind of sexually charged tales over the years in preacher circles, some of it I would suggest a kind of release from all the pressure to come across as near eunuchs in the small towns and provinces many of them had to navigate in some unrealistic standard in the community.

Not exactly indicative but story of the fairly well recognized 70's big Steeple pastor who on hearing the Sunday Morning Report from some IMBs on furloughs said after their 7 minutes during the Morning Worship Service: "It's always good to hear from our Cooperative Program folks in the field, and now we'll let you get back to the Missionary Position."

Cracked the congregation up and I'm glad it did.

I do not know if Carver has spoken to the recent Brian Kaylor report about Richard Land and the SBC Excom penalties

I don't want to be misunderstood. I have a lot of respect for what I know about Doug Carver, and am proud of my Grandfather's role in the origins of Carver's pilgrimage.
But given his apparent support of the ideology of Richard Land on some matters; would be interesting to see how Carver navigates the following link, especially since Carver's Rome, Ga is in such controversy now over Shorter College.
Could be educational for Carver and all to have Carver navigate this piece on Barton, in conversation about Nelson Price's Tea Party and Birch Society inflected Blog

October 7. What this means this near to the Presidential election I'm not sure. Charles Marsh spoke at nearby Campbell a few years ago in the wake of his 2006 on Religious leaders and the War in Iraq.

What this means for the reputation for what at one time when Mark Olson was pastor was considered one of the leading CBF congregations in the state, maybe Tony Cartledge can say.

Or it may be innocuous.

Interesting timing to be sure.

I had good ongoing conversation with Charles Marsh this past weekend in Americus during the Koinonia Celebration. I did not know of Carver at Snyder till few minutes ago.

Hopefully at some point Carver will join Ginny Brant, and maybe Wake Forest President Nathan Hatch to help us all understand what this means.

OTOH it may be another segment in the www.onbeing.org/ccp conversations.

Recently Guy Sayles of FBC Asheville had a piece in Ethicsdaily.com quoting Marsh from Wayward Christian Soldiers. Maybe the N.C. papers will probe Carver's knowledge of Marsh and his work, Marsh one of the most prophetic voices in America today on Civil Rights and the Bush 43 war in Iraq
