The book couple years ago Nixonland says Nixon mighta been much better than was possible for the country at the time. And the Steven Miller book on his relation with Billy Graham adds updated insight to Marshall Frady's magisterial 79 work.
That said, no fan of Timothy George, I think there is some good can be said about Colson. I think his prison ministry is authentic, a sentiment I have shared with Harry Den't daughter Ginny Brant; who like George adored the reborn Chuck Colson.
The pilgrimage now should center on what does Timothy George and the Manhattan Declaration do with the upcoming Charles Marsh biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer; not to mention the conversation that should happen this fall at Samford with Jonathan Merritt, Giberson and Stephens of The Anointed, Allied Defense Fund's Charles Pickering, Randall Balmer on panel with George. If not that full throated, Merritt, Balmer and George should have a chat, informed by Marsh.
And Ginny Brant, as a devotee of Colson should have public conversation with Nathan Hatch of Wake Forest; whsoe father Buck by Brant's recent book was a Bible mentor to her father.
That is where the conversation should focus now

The Homily; Bonhoeffer and Pulitzer thinking

Postby Stephen Fox » Sun May 20, 2012 4:33 pm

You can click on The Homily in the ABP story linked above, George's eulogy to Colson at the National Cathedral.

Marilynne Robinson the Pulitzer winner has explored some ofGeorge's notions and found them inadequate.

Certainly Samford shouldhave Robinson and Marsh on campus this fall--even thought Marsh was there in the fall of 2001--and explore the Christian Century reservations about the Metaxas bio of Bonhoeffer; and the inadequacies of the Manhattan Declaration. Invite Nathan Hatch and Ginny Brant as well.
