I will leave some links at the bottom of this intro, but John Pierce guest open in the Rome News Tribune Sunday, the discussion there, and a most intriguing piece at Religion dispatches opens a new window to explore what Nelson Price is trying to do at Shorter.

Here is a remark from the RNT comment stream on John Pierce's article

Nelson Price's worldview influenced by the Birch Society?
That is a big picture question suggested by the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention.
One of the architects, a man Price has worked with routinely in SBC circles the last 35 years or so, Paul Pressler, walked off the set of a Bill Moyers interview on PBS nationally in 1987. It was a three part God and Politics Series the third part focussed on Christian Reconstructionism.
Bill Moyers was LBJ's press secretary for a while; and some are convinced it was Pressler's allegiance to the Texas Regulars whom LBJ defeated in 1948 in the personage of the Pressler and Texas Regulars candidate Coke Stevenson that was the fire in Pressler's belly to takeover the SBC; political revenge.

Here is the on Left Behind's Cameron and the Recons ... ctionism_/

And here is Pierce's piece in the Rnt ... eft_column
