I do not understand why Dr. Thornton blocked the Abortion thread. It is ripe full of current information on abortion politics including a link to David Gushee's recent Conference at Mercer.

The latest round of abortion discussion goes to the heart of Richard Land's game Plan in collusion with Karl Rove for the SBC Vote and turnout in the National election.

Dr. Thorton has been a long suffering friend to me on this board and I appreciate it. But I would hope he would be less intimidated by my information supply and links here to a topic that goes to the heart of what continues to be fallout of the SBC Takeover, and is now key to this election cycle in the passion of SBC leaders Land, and Charles Pickering of the Allied Defense Fund and their world at www.americanthinker.com

There are many times when I read some of your posts, Stephen, that it takes a while to figure out what you're getting at. You've really thrown me off track on this thread, with your statement about Nelson Price and Shorter. Why don't you summarize in one place, and then see what kind of response you get? Sometimes a response helps me clarify what you're talking about. I don't get what you're getting at here, there's nothing in what you've linked that seems to fit together.

Here's the deal, Stephen.

When you start a topic with a link but don't exerpt anything from it to comment on or to generate discussion here, it is dead in the forum water. If you are the only one commenting to yourself, people stay away.

Some instruction, er, advice: Don't start a topic with a naked link and then be the only one commenting. If you are I'll lock or delete it. The place for your naked linkfest is your blog, not here.

Give that some thought.

I, too, get tired of the linkfest and constant tempest in a teapot!

Cokie Roberts took exception to Obama on the specifics of the Catholic Inst question saying it was politically tin eared to punish Notre Dame ten million dollars annually to make a point.
Still Diane Rehm explored it all last week on NPR.

My point is the likes of Baptists Today, Christian Ethics Today and ethicsdaily.com should begin an earnest campaign exploring the lesser vision of Allied Defense Fund and its resonance with SBaps in the pew. To that end some remedial history on Charles Pickering is in order.

While I want to engage and have decent discussions with you---this kind of thing does little to gain you respect nor a listening ear.

Here is the problem: you name-dropping and links might be impressive to some, but it does next to nothing for me.

I think the purpose of this entire website is to give intelligent and decent people a forum for good discussion (pro and con) on any given issue. We have a good mix of people sharing their ideas = THEIR IDEAS!!!

If you persist on dropping names and ideas from links, it gains you nothing but disrespect and ignoring of your discussion with yourself.

I'm in no way putting you down. I am just encouraging you to quit the old ways and help us solve problems with an intelligent input coming from your own creative brain over there in good old 'Bama land!!!

Most of your pontificating is old news, has been hashed and rehashed in articles and thinking I waded through ten years ago.
I come across well thought out pieces and link them here to provoke advanced and up to date conversation.
Instead you and drag Thornton into a personality cult back and forth that is no good for anyone.

You should post less and read more. Follow Sandy's lead and before him Jonathan. We both are convinced they are on the wrong side of the fundamentalist takeover, but I be darned they are much easier to get along with than you are.

Thornton on annoying comments here on the board; the weight of evidence faults one party, but the overriding point is strong, way past time to move on.

Peggy Noonan accents some of what even Cokie Roberts was concerned about; though Thousand Points of Light Peg often makes me nauseous
