Eunie and Bentley's Evil will be Remembered

Postby Stephen Fox » Mon Nov 14, 2011 2:54 pm

Letter writer in the Nov 14 Bham News:

The author of Arizona's tough immigration law, the powerful Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce, was ousted after a recall election forced by a petition drive. Alabama is now experiencing some of the same economic and image problems Arizona experienced.

No wonder Gov. Robert Bentley recently refused interviews with national media about Alabama's immigration law because he didn't want to be "the face of immigration bills in the country." He apparently doesn't want his "toughest-in-the nation immigration law" to be his legacy -- that thing for which he will be most remembered.

Too late.

We don't get to choose how people remember us. People will remember how we treated them. And, God will remember how we treated people: "I was a stranger and you did not invite me in." (Matthew 25:43)

In spite of all the good we do, it is our shameful moments that make the highlight reels. All of us: Robert Bentley, George Wallace, Joe Paterno, you, me. As Shakespeare wrote, "The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones." So it will be with us.

SBTS's Russ Moore against Gov Bentley and Rick Lance

Postby Stephen Fox » Tue Nov 22, 2011 5:28 pm

Looks like Southern Seminary is joining Wayne Flynt in prophetic witness against Gov Bentley and the silence of the www.alsbom.org
Least that is the way I understand Moore's easily googled Nov 15 blog

Here is a question for Russ Moore.
If he lived in the greater Birmingham Alabama area would he have found himself at the 16th Street Baptist Church last night calling on the Governor to Rescind the Draconian Alabama law.
And would he publicly call on Bama SBC Ex Director as ethicsdaily.com has prophetically challenged Bama Deacon Gov Bentley to do through his servant Wayne Flynt; would Moore join Flynt in calling on the Governor to rescind the law.
And if Moore were to do all this would he call on Albert Mohler to come clean on his associations with Albert Lee Smith and his widow Eunie who worked in the SBC to bring the likes of Mohler to power; and now reported in the Bham News and elsewhere to be the driving force in one of the worst immigration laws in the country.
Some people raised philosophical questions behind the safety and comfort of the ivory tower at SBTS. Others like Martin England and T.C. Smith marched with King across the Selma Bridge and their kind later to be displaced in the fundamentalist takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention.
I'm a little confused as to what Moore is gettin at here, cause he doesn't seem to show up where his words would gauge his students to go.

Cole is leader of the tea party for the county of Probate Judge Osborn discussed in Times-journal link above.
As niece of former Jax St President Houston Cole, something to consider above.

From the above - a good concise reason for these new laws:
I believe these laws are fear-induced attempts on the part of those who consider themselves "American-looking" to reduce their susceptibility to scarcity and discomfort during a period of escalating economic woe.

And the Oneonta in the title refers to the author's residence - Oneonta, NY not Oneonta, AL (whatever that has to do with the subject)

Do Rick Lance and Bob Terry Condone Streamlining

Postby Stephen Fox » Thu Dec 29, 2011 8:44 am

Or do they look the other way. If the immigrant population of Alabama is the corporate face of Jesus in Alabama today, how are Rick Lance and Bob Terry different from Pontius Pilate. Have they said anything to the Governore about this matter; Deacon Gov Robert Bentley who bout 12 days ago in Centre, Alabama told about 34 politicians in the presence of an SEBTS grad he was doing God's Will with the immigration law

Rick Lance, is the Ex Dir of www.alsbom.org

Mary Anne Cole and Wayne Flynt

Postby Stephen Fox » Mon Jan 02, 2012 11:48 am

Cole, a niece of the former President of JSU in Alabama, and joined at the Hip with Eunie Smith in Tea Party politics said recently Wayne Flynt who was Ethicsdaily.com's Baptist of the Year; said Flynt was wrong on every issue.

I guess Flynt is wrong about this as well in the LA Times

NPR calls Rick Lance Christian vision into Question

Postby Stephen Fox » Mon Jan 30, 2012 2:58 pm

http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-a ... -sow?act=1

Listen to this NPR piece, national piece that played twice over the weekend in Alabama. It is an indictment of Rick Lance and the Alabama Baptist Convention and their silence on Albert Lee Smith's introduction of Kris Kobach, to Steve Gaines FBC Gardendale Deacon Scott Beason, now running for US Congress.
Listen to the program and conflate your thinking on this matter, with the conversation on Tim George's recent address to Judson College in the Hijacking Bonhoeffer thread; and upcoming discussions in Public Policy forums.

Robert Parham in the Tennessean with Appeal to Rick and Romn

Postby Stephen Fox » Tue Feb 28, 2012 10:48 am

My friend John Killian, 1st VP of the Bama SBC was on cover of the Bama Baptist two weeks ago with four other SBC officers and Rick Lance with all having a hand on the shoulder of Deacon Governor Bentley in Prayer.

Alabama Baptists have yet to speak about Kris Kobach and Albert Lee Smith's wido and the 400,000 mostly Mexican immigrants dumped on the Mexico border last year to fend for themselves in the face of the ravages of the muderous drug Cartel.

And Timothy George delivers a lecture about Bonhoeffer and the Barmen Declaration at Judson College--google ABPnews.com and See Bruce Gourley's response in the Hijacking Bonhoeffer column at this site, SBC Trends.

To Quote Aretha Franklin( A Baptist Preacher's Daughter herself): "Who's Zoomin Who?"

Working on a blog bout Bonhoeffer and Bama Immigration

Postby Stephen Fox » Tue Feb 28, 2012 3:02 pm

at foxofbama.blogspot.com

Taking on Chuck Colson, the Manhattan Declaration, and Kris Kobach. In my defense have already invoked the name of my HS Advanced Comp teacher Miss Margaret Chadwick; and Pulitzer Prize Winner Marilynne Robinson. I have her autograph.

To date I have not mentioned William Thornton or Gene Scarborough in this blog
