Thought Ms. Winston doesn't mention his name, his legacy is oozing in the piece above. And that of Jesse Helms and Albert Lee Smith and Smith's widow, Eunie as well.

I remember Ms. Winston in the Press Room in San Antonio in 88. And I think she might have written an intro to Nancy Ammerman's Battle for the Bible, or maybe had a piece in Ammerman's Southern Baptists Observed.

Glad she is acquainted with Darren Dochuk. I am disappointed she didn't list Dan Williams and God's Own Party as well. Her acquaintances Mark Noll and Randall Balmer are up to speed on both of them.

Upshot of this is will be a shame if Ms Winton isn't on touring panel with Dochuk and Williams, Noll and Balmer this fall and next Spring across the Southland at Wake Forest, Duke, Furman, Samford, and Mercer.

And bigger shame if members of nearby congregations Baptist don't make it out to the panel and write letters to their local papers about the SBC inflection in all this tea party madness and history of the takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention.
