Well, let's see, I am anti-Obama, anti-Democrat, anti-Obama health care, pro-nuclear, pro-war, and anti-civil unions but I still like Jonathan and think we could fellowship over a big glass of Baptist wine. A little caveat for me, I loved what Mohler said and appreciate his boldness and honesty. I think there's a wide gulf of difference between what we believe politically and how we treat others when they come into our churches. We were never given the option of dishing out judgment but were commanded to love and respect each other as believers.

Alan Carter, what exactly did you mean by describing yourself as "pro-nuclear, pro-war"?

It means I believe in the development of nuclear energy and have no problems with the US having nuclear weapons. I don't believe we can ever get rid of them because that's what keeps us safe in a lot of areas. As far as pro-war, that means I was in favor of the war in Iraq.

Alan, I take you to be about 27 or 28. I think you could learn a lot from Dochuk and Williams on the religious right; and for sure your view of Iraq goes begging for a read of Charles Marsh's Wayward Christian Soldiers.

Of course nothing can stop you from a stunted pilgrimage, but if you are serious about growing in Grace and wisdom and feel a passion to share your opinions then you could do a great service for those you engage if for starters you read these books.

Sorry to disappoint you but I am not that age and do not need a condescending tone concerning my views about the war nor the CR. I was there for both of the events so I don't need a book to tell me what happened. I am glad you have found some books that support your views though.

Most interesting things about the public presentation of Mohler. He deserves some flack from within as he pursues Calvinism and has a public presence in the Media.

It wasn't just enough that CR took over the SBC---they continue to fight and bicker over most things that come before them.

What has happened to our old view of Autonomy?

I know it has disappeared from the new NC Document of Incorporation. Where it used to be a main heading in the old Constitution and By-laws, it is now deeply hidden and it took me three reading to even find the small words about Autonomy.
