Superficially reaching out is not reaching out at all. Costly grace is only conveyed by costly discipleship which has a robust gospel as its content. 140 characters is no gospel and never a robust one. Such methods push people away. The Church needs to put away all their comfortable superficial methods that are supposed to insure fast church growth and embrace the painful, difficult and uncomfortable methods of walking alongside people and intimately caring for them. I'd love to see Weiner embrace Christ, but that will happen by the Spirit-led initiative of the Christians already around him, not miscellaneous tweets.
