A Posted Correction for the Official Record

On my previous post I sought to correct, for the record, a misstatement by a handful of bloggers who have written regarding the alleged eschrowing of Lottie Moon funds by the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Unfortunately, a few of the comments following my last post here at Baptist Life seemed to move off topic. I leave it up to the adminstrators of this site as to whether or not the entire previous post and comments which followed should be deleted. My intention on this post is to focus on the issue that compelled me to first write and not mention anyone by name who has either intentionally, or unintentionally, posted an untruth regarding the International Mission Board and her administrators.

For the record:

The International Mission Board never specifically identified the Baptist General Convention of Texas as a Convention that intentionally eschrowed Lottie Moon funds while giving reports to trustees at the International Mission Board meeting in May 2009. Again, the IMB administrative staff and personnel never, in any forum, and on any occasion, ever specifically identified the Baptist General Convention of Texas as a Convention eschrowing Lottie Moon funds during the May 2009 trustee meeting.

I sincerely seek the forgiveness of the readers of Baptist Life for my part in not keeping the focus on the issue at hand in the previous post. It is not my intention to respond any further to this issue. I have several ministry appointments and will be unavailable for further comment throughout the remainder of this week.

Wade, thank you for attempting to return to the original thread...a major undertaking, if you ask me. BL is well known for thread drifts.

Back to the point...does anyone think Jerry Rankin and the administrators at the IMB are so dense that they would do anything to alienate their largest supporter, BGCT???? I think not. To me these ideas come from the same people who sought to get rid of Dr. Rankin.

If we are an evangelical denomination, then let us support evangelical agencies, not try to discredit them.

I have not gotten any one who was actually at the IMB trustee meeting to admit that in open meeting there was a mention of any convention escrowing funds much less the BGCT. Notice the title of Bart Barber's psuedo-apology post, "International Mission Board No Longer Maintains that BGCT Is Escrowing Lottie Moon Christmas Offering Funds.” How can they no longer mantain that the BGCT is escrowing LMCO funds if they never maintained it in the first place???? I think he later admits they were never named. This thing is stranger and stranger.
The scary thing is that he is going to be elected a trustee at SWBTS this summer and will be responsible for overseeing the honesty and intergrity of SWBTS and its president. He is being elected as a result of the appointments of Frank Page. I have been very disappointed in the actions of Frank Page as SBC president. We were hoping for a fresh breeze and got the same old hot air.
