Did you stumble on this M.O. of the so-called "conservative resurgence" leaders by accident, or have you pretty much known that this is the way they have operated all along? Red herrings, diversionary tactics, side issues have all been standard operating proceedure for about 26 years now. They took a page from the Republican Party operations manual.

Sooner or later, especially if Wade doesn't pipe down and get in line, the attacks will get more shrill and personal. I'm glad Wade has a large support system, and has the character that you and David attested to. These guys have cried "wolf!" just a bit too often and I think there are a lot of Southern Baptists out there who are wanting to see some fresh faces and honesty among their leadership.

I wrote a dynamic response to William in this thread this morning, in which I skillfully played the race card and everything, but then Firefox of all things froze up on my and Performed an Illegal Operation and I didn't have time till now to readdress the matter, and I see that TD (without playing the race card!) has managed to say what I was going to say. Well enough that I shan't waste further time on the rewrite.
