I thought that the whole Frank Page candidacy, which was prompted by those who supported Burleson and opposed the actions of the trustees, was pretty much a statement by the convention. Considering the way the SBC has gone for the last 15 years or so, the fact that the candidate who came out of the Burleson controversy won a majority of votes on the first ballot is a very clear statement that the convention didn't approve of the action taken by the IMB trustees. That board now has a motion from the convention to consider, and will have to take into consideration the fact that the new president was elected by people who support Wade Burleson. They will also have another year of blogging and the thought that the next SBC, where they will report, will be in San Antonio, with the chance that the messenger body may be tilted slightly away from the so-called conservative resurgence, and toward the young conservatives.
