Local media hasn't breathed a word about reaction from the kingmakers in the SBC to their defeat in the presidential race. The Houston Chronicle reporter who is in Greensboro did a good job with the coverage of that, and a nice article on the rejection, for the third time, of the resolution to encourage Southern Baptists to take their kids out of public school. For the first time in over 25 years, I am actually interested in what Paul and Paige might have to say, and it seems the media isn't bothering with it, at least, not in Patterson and Pressler's home state or the Judge's home town.
As to the rejection, once again, of the "pullout of the public schools" resolution, perhaps the third time is the charm. Southern Baptists, for the most part, aren't the flaming, angry fundamentalists who see complete separation from the world as their mandate. The ultra-right wing extremists who are leading this effort, led by Roger Moran, seem to be a bit of an embarassment to the conservative resurgence establishment. They don't mind their rabid, vicious, un-Christlike attacks on moderates and liberals or their support for the pre-approved agenda, but when they keep moving to the far right extreme, they get their hand slapped, their resolutions voted down and silence from the leadership.
