Maundy Thursday

Postby Jim » Tue Mar 27, 2018 8:18 pm

On the day before the crucifixion, Jesus became very personal with the disciples, washing their feet, telling them he would be killed but comforting them, breaking bread with them, warning them even to the extent of bloodshed to take care and look out for themselves and their families and finally giving them reasons to expect ultimate peace. The disciples had always shared the same dangers as had Jesus just by being in his presence, perhaps not exactly a “band of brothers” but awfully close. A hymn for Maundy Thursday: http://clarkscorner.org/hymn96.pdf.

Good job, though I think I would rather sing safety than safeness.

Thanks for the kind word. Safeness is a perfectly good noun (M-W, 11th edition) and used on purpose as an appositive for the clause preceding its use, i.e., that Satan is no threat to Christ, ergo, no ultimate threat to the believer (his lot the same as Christ's).

A hymn to Christ's last hours: http://clarkscorner.org/hymn64.pdf, and attached a testimony by a witness.

Concerning foot-washing, see the first post above. I'm used to ridicule so don't mind that. I tried to delete the offending hymn but the system defeated me.

The song I see when I click the link is hymn 96, My Peace I Leave With You -- no mention of feet washing.

Your original post mentions foot-washing; but the hymn doesn't.
