Now there's a solution to declining numbers.
It's always been the case that a church could send a minimal amount of money to the SBC in Nashville and be a part of the SBC. Unless there is an obvious doctrinal problem that is noticeable, there's no evaluation or assessment and no SBC body has to vote to accept the church. It's different if a church wants to be part of a local association and (less so) state convention. To address this, some have proposed that churches be required to be a part of a local association.
