Dwight McKissic will be nominating Dennis Manpoong Kim as next SBC president. Kim is the pastor of a large, mostly Korean congregation in the Washington, DC area, Silver Spring, MD, and is the largest church in the Maryland- Delaware Baptist Convention.

Unless I learn more that is different from what is known, I'd vote for him...but I'm not going unless convention money falls from the sky.

It probably helps that he is from Maryland, being in Baltimore and all. The stack the deck lessons where learned well by McKissic. Some things never change.

There is a very real chance Floyd could get rejected and embarrassed again in this thing. This would please many hard core SBCers that I know to no end.

Don't travel to the conventions any more? There is something to be said for not having a national convention every year. It makes it expensive. The ABC went to a Biennial a long time ago. The UMC only has a national meeting every four years and even then only something less than 1000 delegates please denominational leadership are involved in that.

I wonder, has the SBC ever talked of not meeting every year?

The expense account, see-and-be-seen crowd couldn't do with a biennial meeting.

When pastoring and having a small convention expense budget amount, I'd go every second or third year.
