I talked to Killian last night on the phone. This exchange may go viral as Killian is the Chaplain of the Bama Tea Party in addition to being the President of the Bama SBC.

Killian is my friend though he knows I'm with Robert Parham and Bishop Willimon on Immigration reform and I think Dan Cathy of Chic Fil A is with me and Willimon and Parham as well. Hope to find out about CFA soon as they endorsed Dream Act in 2006

Cathy's bro in law is a recent VP of the SBC IMB. See public policy at this site.

BK missed the Killian exchange with Land. I think it key to immigration reform conversation to see how Gov Bentley tacks re Killian and Land.

Ed: So Russ Moore says "he hopes to build working relationships with moderate and cooperative Baptists,..."

Check out Russ' History on that folk. I have been to too many CBF assemblies that he has attended as a reporter for BP and have seen too many distortions in his reporting to believe that. And remember, folk who are associated with CBF can not be are prohibited from elective office in the SBC and many of its churches and Associations.

If Russ wants to be heard by a significant number of us in CBF, first of all he need to show that he truly understands the meaning of moderates and the purpose of CBF. also It is not "moderates and CBF", 75% of CBFers seem to self identify as moderates and 10 to 20% as conservatives. there are a handful who may self identify as Liberal but as Russ' predecessor as Dean of Theology, at SBTS (David Dockery), a conservative/evangelical, now President of the Tennessee Convention's Union University has written many time of the pre takeover SBC " there is very little that can be identified as Classical Liberalism". Some in CBF are on each side of the line between Conservative and Moderate, a few who would Identify as political liberals and Theological Moderates. a bit undecided.
