About that time Jesse Helms saved Ronald Reagan's career in the NC. Presidential Primary.

In 76 Jimmy Allen and James Dunn had helped Jimmy Carter in Texas.

In the 80's Pressler began in earnest their assault on CLC and BJC. they stacked Dunn's board with Helms operatives including Sam Currin and Joe Knott. They got the Bircher Albert Lee SMith from Alabama.

So let's don't dance around it. The SBC of Pressler and the so called inerrantists has made a beautiful journey from the Birch Society to the Tea Party and that's the real story.
