Postby Haruo » Thu Mar 24, 2016 10:03 am

Rev. Dr. Paul Martin, president of the American Baptist Seminary of the West, just passed away of a massive heart attack. He was in Colorado preparing to preach there this week. Please hold the ABSW community in your prayers.

PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING

Dr. Martin has a passion for the church and pastoral leadership of the church. This led him to pursue studies in the area of Church Administration and Leadership. His discipline of study in college was focused in the areas of Religion, Psychology and Greek Languages.

His discipline of study in Seminary was Pastoral Theology, and in post graduate study he continued to pursue his passion in the areas of Church Administration, Preaching, Counseling, Christian Education, and Old and New Testament Theology.
PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS

He has served as Senior Pastor of churches in Virginia, Colorado and California. He has served as an adjunct professor at several prominent colleges and seminaries and is invited to preach and lecture throughout the United States and in Africa.

He has contributed many articles to periodicals in the United Presbyterian Family and is in the process of working on his first book entitled: “Decency and Order, A Biblical Perspective of Church Administration.”

As President/CEO of the American Baptist Seminary of the West, the only authentic Baptist seminary west of the Rocky Mountains, his passion is to make sure that ABSW is recognized and honored as an institution committed to preparing men and women for ministry in the 21st century. Under his leadership, the seminary has become truly ecumenical, serving more than 23 different Christian denominations. At the very center of what we do is the Word of God, unashamedly and unapologetically.

Thanks, Ed. Here's a picture of him; I don't know when or in what sanctuary it was taken. I cropped it from one posted to Facebook's Evergreen group.Image

I'm told it's probably from the chapel at ABSW, which is certainly plausible.
