I attended the worship meeting of the Seattle Chin Baptist Church this evening. I could not understand much of the sermon, or the words to the many songs, but it was a warm and welcoming fellowship of a people who are so glad to have made it to the United States, where they are free of the brutal persecution they have been suffering in their home state of Chin, Burma. The pastor said once in his homeland, we worshiped rocks, Now we have the Good News. Harsh persecution is still going on by the Myanmar (Burmese) government, and they request your prayers. They hold their meetings in a different home each week. They don't have much in material things, we all sat on the floor in a bare apartment, with young mothers carrying babies in wraps, and little children horsing around- like happy children anywhere. They are rich however in their love for the gospel, and each other.
Don't despair if your job and your rewards are few, remember that the mighty oak was once a nut like you!
