AWANA, is like most things in the church structure. It is only as strong as the leadership allows it to be.
There may be multiple reasons as to why an AWANA leader would allow the program to be strong, weak or anywhere in between. The list for such reasons, in my perspective, is not worth making. Such a list would be very long and it is, IMO, a non-debatable issue.

Disclaimer: I note this is just an observation from Sandy:
QUOTE from Sandy:
What I have observed is that people who push the AWANA program get ugly, turn a deaf ear and threaten to pull their support from the church unless it goes along with what they want.
This type of attitude seems to be rampant among many in the Baptist family on just about every issue in the church.

I am not trying to start an argument, just wanting to make a personal observation from my own bias.
