Guess where gymnast Carly Patterson started

A little gratuitous name dropping here... Patterson was born right here in beautiful glorious {har har} Baton Rouge. Apparently she started at Elite Gymnastics - on Bluebonnet Avenue - and trained there from age 6 to 11. Elite was started and is run by Johnny Moyal who was on gymnastics team at LSU and won a bronze in (rings??? bar??? can't remember) at the summer Olympics in... Los Angeles(??? need to go check) for Israel. The medal and various clippings/souvenirs are in a case at Elite. He jabbers in Modern Hebrew with his parents when they drop in. See .

One of my children takes gymnastics but at LSU not Elite. My children do go to Elite for camp during school holidays - for last two weeks before school started Aug 11 - and have had some gymnastics birthday parties there - which apparently is what got Patterson started.

Interesting when these things relate to something close to home.
