His fifth Chaper, the Covert Kingdom goes to the heart of many of our fears about Richard Land and Rove, Rick Scarborough, DJ Kennedy and Tim LaHaye.

Here is a link that is the core of the chapter, though quick read of the chapter in the book tells me Bageant has polished and updated his thoughts from the Heat of 2004. Any of you who take Bageant seriously will want to see the Chapter in the book before responding to this more heated argument from 04. Lot has happenned since then, as the Wheaton review of Charles Marsh's book linked in another thread suggests.

It is a chapter Ben Cole and Marty Duren should navigate and help nuance. It intersects the themes Randall Balmer and Charles Marsh have been warning us about here lately; bringing it on down to where the gravel meets the road as they say.
Don Wilkey could never have said it more eloquently or starkly as Bageant.
Shurden, Gourley and Pierce, should take this nuance into consideration.
