Civilized Tribes?

Since there are so many Okies hereabouts, I thought I would raise the question of the vote. This strikes me as a blatantly racist action. How does it look closer up? Would the Cherokee Nation (or the portion of it who voted for this expulsion of people whose ancestors have held tribal citizenship for almost 150 years, and who prior to that worked under indenture for the enrichment of the rest of the tribe) support a measure to strip Cherokees who choose to maintain tribal sovereignty of their US citizenship? Slippery slope there.
