Citing Phillips and National Geographic - oil consumption and coal consumption is a major contributer to global warming.

Most modern ships and planes run on oil dirivitives.

World production of oil will probably peak around 2010. U. S. production peaked long ago.

There will be more monster storms a la Katrina along the Oil Coast from Huston to New Orleans which will impact on the oil distribution capability of the US.

The Evangelicals for Israel crowd just had a major confab in Washington to remind the GOP that WE are for Israel right or wrong.

Far right Christians, Jews and Muslims seem to be pushing hard for Armegeddon about 2040.

The Arabs seem set on pegging the price of Oil to the Euro instead of the dollar which would leave no reason for the developed nations of the world to artificially support the value of the dollar by buying our debt.

Would it not be a crying shame if in 2040 the Warmongers of the Christian Right did not have and could not afford to buy the oil required to get our armed forces to the middle east for the final party?

And more on target:

I have no respect for Land.

I do believe that the earth is getting warmer and that our life style is contributing to this warming.

I will concede that our world wide climate goes through natural cycles. Perhaps Krakatoa's rapidly maturing son and some of its cousins will blow there tops in protest of man's mistreatment of the earth. That will put the whole earth in the shade for several years and cool things off. Did not one of you speak of God's buffers. Maybe he will provide one here.

I do not believe that earth's natural cycles give us an excuse not to be good stewards of God's creation. Remember the servant with one talent. He misused it and it was taken away.

One of the authors of a report used by "warming skeptics" to debunk global warming had this in the New York Times yesterday.



Apparently a section of the report was taken out of context (surprise!). He asked to have his name removed from the "list of scientists who dispute global warming."

Here are two stories about Richard Land from a Nashville morning talk show (now defunct) that focused on giving people from different perspectives an opportunity to discuss various political, social, cultural, religious, issues in a calm non-combative forum. Land was an occasional guest.

Once a guest was commenting on Land's upcoming appearance. This guest said that Land was the only guest to show up with an entourage.

On another occasion, I did not hear the show Land was on. I heard the show the next day. It began with e-mails concerning the previous day's show. Land had appeared with the local ACLU director. Every e-mail raked Land over the coals for his treatment of this woman. Apparently, he had interrupted her at will, was very condescending, and generally treated her like dirt. Many of the e-mails requested that Land not be invited back. I did not listen to the show every day, but I never heard him on there again.

One other thing. Once when I did hear Land on the show, in the course of talking about some Bush administration policy, Land said that he could go into more detail about the policy (whatever it was), but he would have to give up his national security clearance. I sent them an e-mail requesting that they ask him why he needs such as clearance, but I never heard it addressed. Why does he need a NS clearance?
