Survey on Religious Right Ethical Positions

Postby wilkey » Fri Aug 19, 2005 8:58 pm

Surveys on Religious Right positions from phone calls reveals the following.
You might be in the Religious Right if:
1. You believe Bill Frist played ping pong with Terry Shiaro the week before she was killed by the government, but the poor child in Texas who had the plug pulled had it comin.
2. You pray for God to take out a few Supreme Court Justices but at Justice Sunday lament the fact that hostile actions are taken against Christians by judges.
3. You think Judge Moore never committed a crime but Barry Lynn is lower than a child molester.
4. You think its ok for anti separation of church and state leader Joyce Myers to own a $30,000 antique commode, but women who preach in Baptist churches are heretics.
5. You think Oral Roberts U. graduate David Barton knows more than Baptist historians but ORU student Joel Olsteen is cotton candy.
6. You think Tim LaHaye's book LEFT BEHIND, is a sub title of one of the chapters in his sex manuel for Christians.
7. You believe there were Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq, but the concept of separation of church and state is not found in the Constitution.
8. You believe Jewish bankers actually run the country, but Karl Rove doesn't.
9. You believe New York Times is really Jew York times and Fox News is really a fox and news.
10. You believe the bigget threat to the country besides boys not getting guns from their father is public schools, but Bob Jones University is the model for the nation.

Most of this was pretty funny. But what's up with the anti-semitic stuff in #8 and #9? Kinky Friedman would probably have your...uh...head for those remarks. Having seen your picture, my money'd be on Kinky. :)

Don's stuff is nearly always funny...in that unintentional, craziest home videos kinda way.

Glad Jonathan got a few laughs...will try to look out for Kinky...doubt I will have to worry about him getting to me in Austin from the governor's mansion. That is, unless he can talk Karl Rove into being his campaign manager.

Speaking of LaHaye, I have been reading up on his (and his wife's) 20+ year association with Sun Myung Moon. Association is perhaps a bit weak to describe it. Brotherhood. I won't even go into Jerry Falwell's multi-million dollar relationship with Moon. Nor will I discuss many other leaders of the "Religious Right" including those in the (ministry) as well as those holding public office.

Moon- "Moonies" for those who don't know. Moon has taught/teaches that Christ failed in his ministry and that he (Moon, himself) is man's last chance for redemption. Moon is the father of the Unification church.

"Jesus never achieved a thousandth of what Father has done. In his two years and eight months of public ministry, didn't even establish the national foundation. Now, Father has established a foundation of worldwide power that is unprecedented in history."--- Moon, 1990. "Father" is a descriptive term Moon gives to himself.

It might be uncharitable to do so. The Moonies are quite skilled at setting up dummy organizations (from small societies with innocuous names to metropolitan newspapers) which allow them to trick people into guilt by association.

Fremont Baptist found itself a few years ago in the uncomfortable position of helping raise money for the Moonies to send their local kiddies' choir to Korea for some festival. This is not because anyone at Fremont Baptist has or ever had any nefarious connection with Moon. Indeed, if anything it's because we were all so blissfully ignorant of him. I discovered the connection and brought it to the attention of the church secretary, but by that point it was too late to find another group for our Spring Concert...

If you notice a group prays for "unification" where any normal person would pray for "unity", that's a clue. ;-)
