By the way, one of the underlying assumptions of in inclusivist soteriology is that God doesn’t punish people for ignorance, just purposeful disobedience. One of the difficulties in soteriology if you aren’t a Calvinist is how does God deal with human frailties. If you are Calvinist and believe in election, none of that matters. But if salvation involves a human response, how does God deal with responses that are out of ignorance, misinformation, etc. when the person’s heart and intentions were right.

The Open View as described doesn't work for me because I don't see eternity as equivalent to an endless future passage of time. I think of God as both within and without time.

The more I have looked at the topic of universalism, the more I think that there probably a lot more folks in Baptist churches who hold universalism or lean toward. I have not, however, found any other distinct Baptist bodies who endorse it as a doctrine.

While looking around, I found by Nathan Finn. It appears that Winchester moved to General Atonement before going over to Universalism, that he remained otherwise evangelistic. He also believed in a punishment after death for unbelieving sinners before them being reconciled to God. On the other hand, Baptist Hosea Ballou's Universalism seemed to derive from the Calvinism and the Sovereignty of God -- more of the God chose you and that's that.

I'm inclined to hold that God is more powerful, more knowledgeable, and more salvifically focused than all the Process Theologians, Calvinists, and Open Viewers rolled into One.

Just because this is interesting, here is a list from a UUA minister of UUA congregations with affiliations with multiple denominations.

I note three ABC related congregations and two UMC related congregations with most the rest being UCC related. Or a combination of more than two affiliations.

And for course, being a Universalist doesn't mean one is UUA or otherwise unitarian.
