Blackwell is a retired Religion Proff at Furman.

His father was longtime President of Mars Hill College.

Blackwell came to Furman in 71 my Freshman year, a graduate of MIT and Harvard Divinity School.

I had a brief conversation with his Father in 78 at Mars Hill. He proudly told me Albert was the only person in the history of the Danforth scholarship to return money to the fund at the end of his proscribed studies on the stipend.

Blackwell is one of the key scholars on Schleiermacher in the country.
