Get up, girl!

So is "Tabitha" in Acts 9:40 just a typo, perhaps in the original autograph, for "Talitha" (mutatis mutandem, of course, as far as the alphabets are concerned)? If not, why does everybody except Peter (né Kefas, after all) call her Dorcas?

No typo. Same person where different people call her name differently. Tabitha - Beautiful ... Dorcas - Gazelle. Some theology say the name is Tabitha Dorcas.

Also found this... Dorcas (Greek: Δορκάς, Dorkás; Aramaic: טביתא‎ Ṭabītā)

I call my eldest son Chad. The USCG calls him Isaiah. Same person.

I have a wonderful lady in my church... Tabitha. Her sister back in India is named Dorcas. Interesting way people do things.

I think verse 36 helps clarify that one is the other (Tabitha/Dorcas) in different languages:
Acts 9:36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and almsdeeds which she did.
Some modern versions used the word "translated" or even insert the words "in Greek."
LEB: Now in Joppa there was a certain female disciple named Tabitha (which translated means “Dorcas”). She was full of good deeds and charitable giving which she was constantly doing.
NIV: In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good and helping the poor.
