Eugene Peterson has made an impact on many lives. He has passed away.

I was told many years ago to never read the Message... I didn’t listen and have enjoyed the work he did. He was upfront about his approach and never intended to be a translation but more novelistic in how a pastor might speak telling the biblical story.

He will be missed... at least by me.

I was sorry to hear of his passing. I stopped using The Message a while back because of flip flops he made in his stated theology that seemed to be related to a huge amount outside pressure he received. I did feel badly for him, as I know just how much pressure some branches of the Church can put on you to conform, including threatening financial ruin if you don't.
