Criteria include traditional hymns and a good mix of gospel hymns. New hymns of the 21st century.

Can any of you recommend any candidates?

I do not have any since I ran out of bookcase space in 2001 and new hymnals cost real money.

Any help will be appreciated.

James, are you looking for a hymnal with worship resources beyond the music, or just the music? For example, some hymnals have a psalter.

The UMC hasn't published a new hymnal since the 1980s. We have a new one in the pipeline. But its on the back burner right now while we bash each other over the head over human sexuality. <sigh>

Tim, all we are looking for is a good selection of hymns. If it comes from a designated gift from me, it will include a good selection of recent hymns addressing today's social and theological issues written in traditional style. (I am not fond of "contemporary worship." It would also include a good selection of traditional hymns which have stood the test of time and a large selection of the gospel hymns included in the '56 Baptist Hymnal. We have an abundance of other liturgical material so we do not need to clutter up the hymnal with such. Some hymnals in my collection are quite heavy-too heavy for senior adults.
