BTSR : Moderate or Liberal?

As a member of a Pastor Search committee, I took part in an interview of a candidate tonight (via Skype). This candidate has a Masters from BTSR. He said he chose BTSR because it was a "moderate" seminary. He seemed dismayed that BTSR has "moved to the left". This is the first time I have heard anyone express this opinion. Has anyone here gotten the impression that BTSR is more liberal now than when it began?

I would be interested in how he defines this as well. I know several of the faculty members personally. I wonder if he is reflecting on social stands or on biblical/theological issues. I was in a group that had Dr. Scott Spencer do an update for us on developments in biblical/theological studies, and I did not hear anything moving to the left in what he shared. I would love more information on what he was perceiving.
